UF Resins

Urea-Formaldehyde resins are poly-condensation products of the reaction of formaldehyde with urea. UF resins are the most commonly used adhesives in the wood-based panel industry due to their low cost, high reactivity and good performance. The relatively easy production of the UF resins, their good solubility in water and absence of colour, make these thermosetting polymers irreplaceable in the manufacture of many wood based products. Due to the UF resins' low resistance to humidity the panels obtained are suitable for interior use, in dry conditions.

CHIMAR provides technology for the synthesis of a wide range of UF resins suitable for the production of any panel type - particleboard, MDF, OSB and plywood.

The specifications of the resin product such as the molar ratio of formaldehyde to urea, solids content, viscosity, reactivity etc. are adjusted in order to meet any customer requirement.

CHIMAR' UF resin technology differentiates itself by short production time, high reactivity and  performance consistency.

Wood panels produced using CHIMAR's UF resins can readily meet the requirements of E0 formaldehyde emission grade.

CHIMAR also provides technology for the production of UF resins suitable for the production of MDF by  mechanical blending. These special UF grades enable efficient resination of the wood fibres.  MDF panels are obtained at lower resin consumption levels than the conventional ones without any negative effect on their properties.

Special UF types are also provided for OSB/1 and OSB/2 surface layers or for the production of door-skin thin MDF.

CHIMAR also offers UF technologies at various degrees of tack for the lines requiring high cold adhesion.
