UMF Resins

Urea-Melamine- Formaldehyde resins are poly-condensation products of the reaction of formaldehyde with urea and melamine, where the quantity of the melamine is up to 10% calculated on the liquid basis. Due to their higher water resistance as compared to UF resins, the UMF binders are applied in the production of panels for use in mild humid conditions.

Even though the UMF resins have higher raw materials cost than the UF resins, the panels produced with them exhibit enhanced properties.

CHIMAR provides tailor made technologies for UMF suitable for the production of moisture resistant MDF and PB boards of E1 and E0 formaldehyde emission grades.

Special types are applied in the production of OSB/2 panels or Super E0 (F**** JIS A 1460) MDF boards.

These resin types can also be used in the production of door-skin thin MDF of very low formaldehyde emission.

The resins' characteristics can be modified to meet the specific customer requirements as regards the solids content, viscosity, reactivity etc.

CHIMAR UMF adhesives are easy to handle and environmentally friendly.
