CHIMAR provides technology for the production of two fire retardant grades :
- PYRO-S : liquid fire retardant for application in MDF production, patent protected WO 02/102926
- PYRO-SM : solid fire retardant for application in PB production.
Both products have the following common properties:
- Non-corrosive and halogen-free
- High retention of properties - IB, MOR, swells
- No deterioration of properties with time
- Do not increase formaldehyde emission, even can reduce it
- Board surface suitable even for veneering
Specific information about the application of each product:
- PYRO-S
- Only for MDF
- In liquid form, 53% concentration
- Easily applicable through a nozzle in the blowline, before resin spraying
- Dosing 10-15% dry on dry fibre (depending on operational conditions and desired specs)
- Immiscible with glue, except in a static mixer
- Total pressing time may need to be increased up to 10% as compared to the standard MDF production.
- PYRO- SM
- Only for PB
- In solid form
- Addition on all layers
- Addition on chips before the blender
- Dosing 15-20% on chips (depending on operational conditions and desired specs)
- Should be glued with chips
- Use of formaldehyde source may be necessary to readjust the reduced formaldehyde of the system.
