General Non-destructive On-line SpectroScopic Interpretation (GNOSSITM) is a NIR spectroscopy based system comprising:
- An appropriate NIR (near infra red) spectrophotometer
- Remote sensors (immersion probes or in-line flow cells) connected to instrument via optical fibers
- A collection of software tools to manage:
- NIR spectra acquisition
- Application of advanced chemometric methods on the collected NIR spectra
- Interfacing to other programs for presentation and storage of results
GNOSSITM applications:
- Control UFC solids and molar ratio, either on-line or off-line
- Follow up resin production online, ensuring consistency and correcting mistakes
- Test raw materials' common contaminants and test conformity (off-line and possibly on-line)
- Testing of laminating paper condition using a usability index
- On-line monitoring of impregnation line for % volatiles and resin pick up
